Congratulations to Albert Goldsby who completed our Winter 2012 class on March 21st. Albert is a first term carpenter apprentice with JE Dunn Construction as of April 30, 2012. Constructing Hope supplied the basic tools and thanks to Kathryn Merritt, Lead Instructor who donated her tool belt and saw to assist Albert in his new career in carpentry.

McKenzie River Gathering Foundation Fundraiser

Constructing Hope Board members and staff showed their support for the McKenzie River Gathering Foundation by attending a fundraiser on Saturday, April 21, 2012.

Constructing Hope Board members that attended were former “Senator” Robert Boyer (Chairman) accompanied by wife Judy Boyer, Jack Roy (Secretary) and Anne Fishe (Member). Along with Constructing Hope staff members Patricia Daniels (Executive Director) and Percy Hampton (Career Placement Specialist) accompanied by wife Kathleen Hampton.

Board members and staff enjoyed live music provided by local artists and dancing.

Congratulations to McKenzie River Gathering Foundation for raising $20,000.00.

Winter 2012 Graduation Ceremony

Constructing Hope had our 9th graduation ceremony on March 21, 2012 at the Pacific Northwest Carpenters Institute. We had a very successful event with 14 graduates and more than 50 attending. Kevin Joeckel, Hoffman Structures Inc. President presented a keynote address. Past graduate Orenthal Jackson also shared his experience as a first-term apprentice with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 290. Big congratulations to the two level-1 graduates, Jayme Bowen and Albert Goldsby.

Wire a Light Workshop — An Introduction to the Electrical Trade

Electricians enjoy satisfying careers while at the same time earning up to $37 an hour at the end of an apprenticeship. Come learn how to wire a light, meet electricians from the industry, and find out how you can apply for this opportunity.

An evening for women: March 5, 6pm to 8pm
An evening for men: March 6, 6pm to 8pm

Both workshops will be held at Constructing Hope at 405 NE Church, Portland 97211

Fall 2011 Graduation

This Fall 2011 Graduating Class had 4 Level 1 Graduates they are Joshua Baze, David Duke II, Christopher Felts, and Orenthal Jackson.

We had 5 Graduates with Perfect Attendance those are Gilberto Dea, Michael Haggstrom, Jeffery Henry, Orenthal Jackson, and Isaiah Taylor.
